A wedding video from Whitely Hall

July 2023 – The was the wedding of Gabriella & Jake from St. Peter’s Church in Felkirk and Whitley Hall in Sheffield. Inseperable since teenagers, the time had finally come for Gabby & Jake

“Jake and I met in Sixth Form College as we shared the same Chemistry class. We were friends for our first year but after my 18th birthday in 2018 Jake asked me out on a date and we’ve been inseparable ever since!”

Gabriella & Jake moved onwards and upwards from that initial first date, culminating in a truly romantic proposal.

“Due to COVID we were unfortunately unable to go abroad to get engaged however Jake organised a trip to London in September 2021. I have a massive love of astronomy so Jake proposed at the Royal Observatory which meant a lot to me. Jake planned the whole trip around my favourite things so we went to see my favourite musical The Phantom of the Opera and we also went to Harry Potter World.”

Whitley Hall is a true gem of Sheffield’s wedding venues. It is a 16th century ivy-clad country masion house nestled in the rolling countryside of South Yorkshire and the couple were blown away when they first saw it.

“We had a day blitzing through venue open days and Whitley Hall Hotel was the first one of the day. When you go down the drive there is a sign saying ‘Beware of the peacocks’ which I thought was a joke until I saw the beautiful peacock in all its glory strolling around the car park. This was a big win as it was so unique. There are a couple of different rooms in Whitley Hall but the side we’ve chosen (Whitley Suite) was so modern and young compared to other venues we looked at during the day.”

Even though the heavens opened for a large part of the day, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the guests and it turned out to be a fantastic day, topped off with a great disco and even a performance from the king himself – Elvis!

“Our vision is for everyone to have an amazing experience and have lots of fun celebrating with us. We’ve chosen a soft grey and dusky pink colour scheme with a hint of stars in the theme due to where we got engaged. I envisage a lot of sparkle and glitz through the decorations and dress/jewellery etc. I really do want my guests to have the best day.”

Congratulations to Gabriella & Jake – now enjoy the film.

Who am I?

Thanks for stopping by. I’m Pete and I’m an established wedding videographer based in the North of England, on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Filming weddings is a passion as well as a job. I am always honoured to be asked to capture a couples’ big day so they can treasure and watch it back for years to come.

Why choose me?

I often ask my couples why they selected me to film their wedding, as opposed to all the other wedding videographers out there.  They almost unanimously say it’s because my work has a natural, informal feel while remaining stylish and contemporary. My background in documentary film making  means that I like to film events as they happen naturally, taking a discreet approach without trying to force or fake anything.

What’s my approach?

For me, the wedding day is of course about the bride and groom, it is their big day after all. Having said that it’s not ALL about the bride and groom, but it’s also a big day for the bridesmaids, the groomsmen, the ushers, the flower girl, the pageboy, the mums and dads, the brothers and sisters, the cousins, wider family and friends, you can see where I’m going with this. Everybody plays their part and not to forget to mention the suppliers: the dresses, the suits, the cake, the venue, the band, the flowers etc etc. I see it as my job to capture as much of the vibe of the day as possible, and that would not be possible without the participation of everyone mentioned above. I love capturing it all, from the anticipatory bridal preparations, through to the emotional vows, all the way up to guests throwing shapes on a packed dance floor.

Your Wedding

Even after 15 years in this business and over 400 weddings under my belt, I still get a thrill at turning up at the venue on the morning of the wedding. Whether that is a vast country estate, or a small village church, I approach every wedding the same. I love to capture your day with the minimal amount of fuss, and to provide a beautifully crafted film that you can watch back for years to come. All the atmosphere, the emotion, and all the laughter and love. It really is a once in a lifetime, unique event that deserves to be beautifully captured.

Every couple and every wedding is different an I love getting to know my couples, hearing their stories and capturing their big day. Each time, the story of your wedding day is completely unique, and I can’t wait to tell yours.

Wherever your wedding is, from a small registry office, quaint village church, country hotel, large marquee or even a grand cathedral, get in touch for prices and to discuss your requirements. If I am free for your date we can arrange a meeting, and I can show you samples of my wedding films and talk you through the process. If you have some questions and just want a chat, then I am more than happy to have a Zoom consultation where you quiz me on any aspect of having a videographer at your wedding, just click on the Contact link at the top or bottom of this page.
