March 2023 – The wedding of Sam and Anna at The Priory Barn and Cottages in Syningthwaite, on the outskirts of Wetherby. A fantastic and fun packed day at this charming North Yorkshire wedding venue, ending with a great party and rocking band featuring Sam herself on vocals and guitar.
The Priory Cottages and Barn are named as such because of their close proximity to Syningthwaite Priory, and this was the venue for the wedding of Anna and Sam. When they first visited this amazing venue they were instantly sold. As well as being a beautiful and charming venue they needed a little extra and The Priory Cottages provided everything they needed.
“We wanted a dog friendly venue with accommodation for the wedding party on site. This fit the bill perfectly. Sam’s school friend also works there which was a big plus!”
Having everyone on site for the full day was very important for Anna and Sam. Of course the day is mainly about the couple getting married but for Anna and Sam it was equally about their friends and family and above all the everyone has a great time!
The vision for our wedding day is chilled and laid back. We just want everyone to enjoy the day and dance the night away!”
The decision to have the wedding day filmed was something they started to think about but were swayed when they say another of my films that I had shot at Gilpin Lake House in Windermere the previous year. This film was shown to them by one of their friends who had been a bridesmaid at that particular wedding.
“We saw a video you had done for a friend of ours brother in the lakes last year. We want to capture everyone having a great time!”
The day went by in a whirlwind for both Anna, Sam and their friends and family. Fortunately I was there to capture all the best moments, along with superb photographer Andy Matheson so the couple will have lots to look back on over the years. As for the future well of course it all starts with the Honeymoon (or two in this case)
“We have a mini moon in the lakes the week after the wedding and have just booked Disneyworld Florida for June for our main honeymoon”
Congratulations to Anna & Sam – now enjoy the film.
Who am I?
Thanks for stopping by. I’m Pete and I’m an established wedding videographer based in the North of England, on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Filming weddings is a passion as well as a job. I am always honoured to be asked to capture a couples’ big day so they can treasure and watch it back for years to come.
Why choose me?
I often ask my couples why they selected me to film their wedding, as opposed to all the other wedding videographers out there. They almost unanimously say it’s because my work has a natural, informal feel while remaining stylish and contemporary. My background in documentary film making means that I like to film events as they happen naturally, taking a discreet approach without trying to force or fake anything.
What’s my approach?
For me, the wedding day is of course about the bride and groom, it is their big day after all. Having said that it’s not ALL about the bride and groom, but it’s also a big day for the bridesmaids, the groomsmen, the ushers, the flower girl, the pageboy, the mums and dads, the brothers and sisters, the cousins, wider family and friends, you can see where I’m going with this. Everybody plays their part and not to forget to mention the suppliers: the dresses, the suits, the cake, the venue, the band, the flowers etc etc. I see it as my job to capture as much of the vibe of the day as possible, and that would not be possible without the participation of everyone mentioned above. I love capturing it all, from the anticipatory bridal preparations, through to the emotional vows, all the way up to guests throwing shapes on a packed dance floor.
Even after 15 years in this business and over 400 weddings under my belt, I still get a thrill at turning up at the venue on the morning of the wedding. Whether that is a vast country estate, or a small village church, I approach every wedding the same. I love to capture your day with the minimal amount of fuss, and to provide a beautifully crafted film that you can watch back for years to come. All the atmosphere, the emotion, and all the laughter and love. It really is a once in a lifetime, unique event that deserves to be beautifully captured.
Every couple and every wedding is different an I love getting to know my couples, hearing their stories and capturing their big day. Each time, the story of your wedding day is completely unique, and I can’t wait to tell yours.
Wherever your wedding is, from a small registry office, quaint village church, country hotel, large marquee or even a grand cathedral, get in touch for prices and to discuss your requirements. If I am free for your date we can arrange a meeting, and I can show you samples of my wedding films and talk you through the process. If you have some questions and just want a chat, then I am more than happy to have a Zoom consultation where you quiz me on any aspect of having a videographer at your wedding, just click on the Contact link at the top or bottom of this page.
