September 2022 – The wedding of Emma & Matty at Oulton Hall in Rothwell, Leeds. Just 5 miles from Leeds city centre, Oulton Hall is a fabulous wedding venue set in 300 acres of beautiful gardens, and was the venue of choice for Emma and Matty.
Just 5 miles from Leeds city centre is Oulton Hall in Rothwell, and this was the venue for the wedding of Emma and Matty. When they first visited this amazing venue they were instantly sold.
“We had looked online and booked a visit. As soon as we walked into the venue we just knew. We could instantly picture the whole day, could see where we would get some good photos. We only visited one venue but did not think we needed to see another”
This was a September wedding, and yet the sun hadn’t quite set on the summer weather, so the guests had plenty of chance to mingle in the venue’s fantastic grounds. The time of year however had been deliberate as Matty explains:
“Our colour scheme is Autumn, lots of deep reds, orange, gold. we are going for a rustic feel. Autumn and Halloween is Emma’s favourite time of year. I love the colours, the cosy evenings. And we wanted the wedding to feel like that. Our tables are named after places we have visited together and love. We have 60 guests coming to the day as we wanted a very intimate feel”
Of course planning a wedding is a big undertaking, but Emma and Matty made sure that there was plenty packed into the day to keep the guests entertained, and every little detail was in place for such a special event as Emma explains:
“We want our guests to really be able to feel the love throughout the day and how much thought we have put into the day, we want the whole day to be filled with laughter and just happiness all round. We have plenty of autumn leaves, pumpkins, acorns all for the decor. Matty’s suit is grey with burgundy tie and pocket square. the bridesmaids and two flowers girls are also wearing burgundy. Emma’s brother and friend are both doing readings during the ceremony. we have also written something special to say to each other. We have a DJ and magician for entertainment, we have a 4 course meal for the food, followed by pizza and wedges in the evening, and we are having a sweet cart as Matty has a huge sweet tooth”
The day went by in a whirlwind for both Emma, Matty and their friends and family. Fortunately I was there to capture all the best moments, along with superb photographer Kev from Image-I-Nation Photography so the couple will have lots to look back on over the years. As for the future well of course it all starts with the planned honeymoon in the USA:
We will be going on the honeymoon staright after the wedding on the 26th September. We both love America and have been to New York and Florida (twice) already. We will be starting in Las Vegas, then driving to Arizona, then driving to LA before flying to Oahu, Hawaii. We will then fly back to California do a few days there before heading home. we will be away for 3 weeks and have been planning this trip for awhile, it will be the biggest trip we have ever done but decided it was a once in a life time. We have some stuff booked already including, ziplining in Hawaii, stargazing in the Sedona desert, whalewatching in California, Disneyland, Grand Canyon, Pearl Harbour, hiking, Luau and much more to come.
Congratulations to Emma & Matty – now enjoy the film.
Who am I?
Thanks for stopping by. I’m Pete and I’m an established wedding videographer based in the North of England, on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Filming weddings is a passion as well as a job. I am always honoured to be asked to capture a couples’ big day so they can treasure and watch it back for years to come.
Why choose me?
I often ask my couples why they selected me to film their wedding, as opposed to all the other wedding videographers out there. They almost unanimously say it’s because my work has a natural, informal feel while remaining stylish and contemporary. My background in documentary film making means that I like to film events as they happen naturally, taking a discreet approach without trying to force or fake anything.
What’s my approach?
For me, the wedding day is of course about the bride and groom, it is their big day after all. Having said that it’s not ALL about the bride and groom, but it’s also a big day for the bridesmaids, the groomsmen, the ushers, the flower girl, the pageboy, the mums and dads, the brothers and sisters, the cousins, wider family and friends, you can see where I’m going with this. Everybody plays their part and not to forget to mention the suppliers: the dresses, the suits, the cake, the venue, the band, the flowers etc etc. I see it as my job to capture as much of the vibe of the day as possible, and that would not be possible without the participation of everyone mentioned above. I love capturing it all, from the anticipatory bridal preparations, through to the emotional vows, all the way up to guests throwing shapes on a packed dance floor.
Even after 15 years in this business and over 400 weddings under my belt, I still get a thrill at turning up at the venue on the morning of the wedding. Whether that is a vast country estate, or a small village church, I approach every wedding the same. I love to capture your day with the minimal amount of fuss, and to provide a beautifully crafted film that you can watch back for years to come. All the atmosphere, the emotion, and all the laughter and love. It really is a once in a lifetime, unique event that deserves to be beautifully captured.
Every couple and every wedding is different an I love getting to know my couples, hearing their stories and capturing their big day. Each time, the story of your wedding day is completely unique, and I can’t wait to tell yours.
Wherever your wedding is, from a small registry office, quaint village church, country hotel, large marquee or even a grand cathedral, get in touch for prices and to discuss your requirements. If I am free for your date we can arrange a meeting, and I can show you samples of my wedding films and talk you through the process. If you have some questions and just want a chat, then I am more than happy to have a Zoom consultation where you quiz me on any aspect of having a videographer at your wedding, just click on the Contact link at the top or bottom of this page.
